This way you give your thin locks maximum volume.
Unfortunately, not all of us are blessed with the thick, shiny hair you see in the shampoo commercials. And of course you cannot simply transform fine hair into a full head, but there is a certain hairstyle that makes your locks appear thicker and fuller.
U shape
We see the hair trends changing more and more from the somewhat ‘sharp’ silhouettes – think: long hairstyles and modern mullets – to the softer and natural shapes. We are also increasingly seeing the ‘U-shape’ hairstyle. And this hairstyle is the golden solution to give your hair maximum volume. Actually, the name immediately reveals what the hair model entails. Celebrity hairstylist Gina Rivera explains that the back and sides of the hair are cut in a U-shape. “Although the style is subtle, it can have a big impact in making your hair look fuller,” says Rivera.
Suitable for every hair type
The best thing about this hairstyle is that, according to Rivera, it is suitable for all hair types and lengths. “The U-shape has shorter sides that define the face. This is actually flattering for most face shapes and adds a lot of movement. Whenever there is more movement – which is created by texture and layers in the U-shape – the hair appears fuller,” says Rivera.

Only drawback
The only ‘disadvantage’ to this hairstyle is that you may have to visit the hairdresser more often than you are used to. “Everyone has different hair,” explains Stephanie Angelone, head stylist at RPZL. “But I recommend going to the hairdresser every three months to keep the shape intact and cut away the dead spots.”
And while stylists advise against creating this hairstyle at home due to its difficulty, Angelone advises those who take the plunge to use a round brush and a hairdryer. “Also pay close attention to the facially defining corners at the front for a full look. Use a round brush for a little more volume and some mousse to keep the volume longer.”
