Raven van Dorst attracts a lot of viewers every season with her TV program Boerderij van Dorst. Unfortunately, this season is already over, but she ends it with a beautiful, candid episode. Viewers are very impressed by comedian Richard Groenendijk, but especially singer Numidia. She talks openly about the bad relationship with her parents, with whom she currently has no contact.
Singer Numidia in Boerderij van Dorst
Presenter Raven van Dorst has clearly saved the best celebrities for last. The last episode of Boerderij van Dorst produces quite a few revelations. In this episode we see comedian Richard Groenendijk and singer Numidia, both of whom dare to be very candid. Richard says that he struggled a lot with coming out of the closet. He even dated a girl for a long time and hoped that his homosexuality would fade away. “Then I thought, oh, I hope I wake up tomorrow and I’m cured,” he tells Raven. Fiercely!
Although the story of singer Numidia makes an even greater impression on viewers. She is very open about her childhood and the bad relationship with her parents. Right from the start she shows that she has no trouble talking about this. She talks to Raven about her growing popularity after Best Singers. “100 million people can like you,” she begins. “But if you don’t have your people or your own family around you, it feels very lonely.” Richard immediately responds in surprise with ‘that she is not alone at all’. He suggests that her parents are proud of her. “I have no contact with them,” she immediately says, before explaining: “It’s just very difficult to maintain my contact with them.”
Bad relationship with parents
According to the singer, her parents often play with her feelings. She feels she has to draw the line somewhere and she has done so. “It’s done now,” she says. Now she only has two best friends and her management, from whom she really gets all the support during her blossoming musical career. But how did everything turn around like this? Well, that started in her childhood. Numidia used to live with a father who was constantly drunk and a very temperamental mother. She could get very angry with Numidia, but also with her father. That was especially when Numidia was still young, about thirteen or fourteen years old. “Then I stepped in and tried to stop it,” she says. Unfortunately, things often got out of hand, especially when her father was drunk. “Then the police came again, there was another fight and then again ‘I’m going to kill him’.” Wow! She also received blows from her father. Although her father and mother were always united against their daughter. “The two of them always came to me,” she says. Once she even ran away. Her parents then came after her, but in vain. Numidia slept outside that night: “At the station.”
Twist everything
For a long time, her parents ensured that no one knew anything about the difficult family situation. They were good at twisting everything. But at some point, Numidia stopped showing up for school and fell asleep during class. “I was just in a burnout when I was sixteen,” she says about this herself. She couldn’t talk to anyone about it, not even other family members. She had no contact with that. Although there was also a taboo on talking about your feelings. The only one who paid attention to Numidia was herself. “I looked out for myself and for them,” she says. The moment she starts having problems at school is the moment a concern is reported.
Completely done
It is clear why she is completely done with her parents. Despite this, she does not blame her parents for how they treated her. “They also come from a deep hole themselves,” she explains. “But sometimes I think: if only you hadn’t made me.” Of course she is angry, but according to her there is no point in being angry all the time. That’s why she simply has no contact with her parents. “I can’t live with someone who calls me a whore every day, who wants to beat me into the ground every day,” she says. “That’s not a mother in my eyes.” She only wants people around her who make her feel good.
The story moves a lot of people. It doesn’t even bother Raven, who normally always comes across as very tough. In addition, viewers are also very impressed with Numidia’s story. “What resilience,” someone writes on social media channel X. “I’m speechless. It will happen.” Another compliments Raven for the good questions she asks during the interview.
#boerderijvandorst what resilience #numidia. I’m silent about it. It will come.

Wonderful questions from Raven in #boerderijvandorst On #numidia About breaking off contact with parents. A big taboo that this exploration deserves. ‘What are you holding on to? ‘
