Sarah Ferguson provides update on skin cancer: ‘I am in the best hands’

‘Please don’t skip your health checks’

Just three weeks after hearing the news that Sarah Ferguson had been cured of breast cancer, she was diagnosed with skin cancer. Now that it is Breast Cancer Awareness Week, Sarah would like to remind others – through an extensive message – not to ‘skip or postpone health checks’.

Breast Cancer Awareness Week

In celebration of Breast Cancer Awareness Week, Fergie dressed completely in pink and then appeared in front of the camera. Sarah recently shared the photo on her Instagram. In the caption she shares an important message for her followers.

“To mark #BreastCancerAwarenessWeek, I would like to urge everyone to be diligent with their health checks,” she begins her post. “I am determined to do what I can. I want to raise awareness of it by sharing my story. I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2023, and this year I was diagnosed with melanoma – an aggressive form of skin cancer. And if my doctors had not been so careful, my situation could have been much worse.”

Big shock

“It was a busy 2023 and I almost postponed my mammogram, but my sister Jane convinced me to go,” she continued in her post. “After having a mastectomy and reconstruction, all I could do was hope that I had nothing. That is why the new diagnosis of skin cancer came as a shock.”

“I am now in the best hands and feel positive thanks to the support of my family. Days can make the difference between life and death, so please don’t skip or delay your health checks. Urge your loved ones to go to theirs too.”

The Tripod

Sarah previously told us in an exclusive interview with HELLO! Magazine that her family supports her through thick and thin. This also includes her two daughters Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice. “We call each other ‘The Tripod’ because we support each other, no matter what happens,” she said at the time.
