Royalty photographer about Harry and Meghan’s wedding: ‘Worst royal wedding ever’

‘I hated the day’

More than six years ago, Harry and Meghan tied the knot at Windsor Castle. It is a day that they may consider the best of their lives, but not everyone can agree on that. Royalty photographer Arthur Edwards captured the Sussexes’ wedding and speaks to The Sun about the ‘worst royal wedding ever’.

Bad photos

Arthur Edwards has been working as a royalty photographer since 1977 and has therefore taken quite a few pictures at royal parties and events. Harry and Meghan’s royal wedding is a day in his career that has always stayed with him – but not exactly in a positive way. “Harry was determined to keep the newspapers at bay as much as possible,” he said in an interview with The Sun. According to the photographer, it was therefore difficult to take a decent photo of the couple. “I wanted to take pictures of them in their carriage greeting the crowd, but they just looked away.”

Worst royal wedding ever

Arthur does not hide the fact that he did not have a good feeling about the wedding. “I hated the day,” he continues. “I can tell you now: it was the worst royal wedding I have ever done.” The photographer was given the feeling of being ‘unwelcome’. He said his colleagues in the British press felt the same. “In many ways they were treated poorly.”

Bad tire

On May 19, Harry and Meghan had been married for exactly six years. And although that milestone was of course extensively celebrated among the Sussexes, the Royal Family turned out to be slightly less enthusiastic. The anniversary was ignored on social media. A few weeks earlier, Prince Archie’s birthday was also completely ignored. We seem to have given up hope that Charles’ cancer diagnosis would thaw the cooled bond between him and Harry.
