They proudly show off their family! King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck (43) and his wife Queen Jetsun have been married since 2011. The monarchs became parents for the first time in 2016, and their second son was born four years later. A sweet surprise followed last September: the royals were happy about their first daughter. A new photo shows Jigme and Jetsun with their new offspring for the first time!
A snapshot of the family of five was published on the royal family’s official Instagram profile. The photo shows the proud parents with their sons Jigme Namgyel and Jigme Ugyen – with them for the first time: the daughter of Jetsun and her husband. The little one’s name is Sonam. “We wish everyone a Happy New Year. May 2024 bring love, peace and happiness for everyone,” the 33-year-old wrote under the family portrait.
It wasn’t until the beginning of December that it became known what the princess’ name was. “Sonam is a Bhutanese name that stands for merit, longevity and happiness,” said the announcement via Instagram. According to tradition, a naming ceremony was held at which the entire family was present.
