Princess Kate learned this parenting lesson from the late Princess Diana

A lesson in raising royalty!

It is nothing new that Princess Kate is sometimes inspired by the iconic looks of Princess Diana or appears wearing a piece of jewelry from her late shoe mother. But it doesn’t just stop at clothing choices. The two are also reportedly very similar when it comes to parenting.

Parenting method

According to sources from The Sun, Kate has exactly the same priorities for her children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, as her mother-in-law had for Prince William and Prince Harry.

One parenting method that Kate is said to have adopted comes straight from her late mother-in-law’s ‘parenting bible’. It was even called Princess Diana’s golden rule when raising her two sons.

The Princess of Wales wants her children to keep both feet on the ground, despite their royal privileges, The Sun previously reported. “Kate has always wanted her children to grow up in the real world,” the insider said. “She and William don’t want to live in some kind of golden bubble. They want them to grow up with the same experiences as other children.”

Teach charity

Diana often took William and Harry to charity events, so they saw the reality of the lives of less fortunate people. She also insisted that the brothers wrote so-called thank-you notes to ensure that they developed good manners from childhood. Kate reportedly also applies this rule to her three children, teaching them to write a thank-you note when they receive a gift. “Table manners, thank you notes and small courtesies are taught to the children so that this becomes automatic,” said a source.

Just as Diana took her sons William and Harry to charity events, Kate also takes her children out to help out every now and then. Late last year, George, Charlotte and Louis accompanied her to a baby bank in Maidenhead, near their home in Windsor, where they helped wrap gift bags of toys and other goodies given to children from less fortunate families at Christmas.

Reality check

Royal author Andrew Morton, who collaborated with Diana on a biography of her life, explained that the late princess was keen to teach her sons about the realities of the world. “From an early age she took the young royals with her on her charity visits. One of the reasons was because she didn’t want the boys to grow up thinking the whole world was made up of 4×4 Range Rovers, shotguns and nannies.”
