Princess Ingrid Alexandra asks brother about his infamous balcony moment

The Norwegian court shared a sweet interview with Prince Sverre Magnus by his sister.

It could hardly have escaped your notice that this weekend was the eighteenth birthday of Norwegian Prince Sverre Magnus, the youngest son of Prince Haakon and Princess Mette-Marit. The prince may not have received a grand gala like his sister, Princess Ingrid Alexandra, but a pleasant interview by his sister was in order.

Birthday prince

When you grow up in a palace, your eighteenth birthday usually brings major changes. As an adult royal, you have quite a lot to deal with! Still, the Norwegians kept it casual for Prince Sverre Magnus’ birthday. He may be third in line to the throne, but technically he is not part of the Royal House of Norway – there is only room for his grandparents, his parents, and his big sister.

That’s why Sverre’s birthday passed with a lot less fanfare than Ingrid Alexandra’s. Yet the Norwegian court commemorates the young royal’s birthday in its own unique way: with an interview by his sister!

Brother and sister

They may live in a palace: Sverre Magnus and Ingrid Alexandra are also just brother and sister. And that means that in the interview that the Norwegian court published yesterday there was a lot of teasing on both sides. Ingrid opens the conversation with the unsubtle: “I had to answer these questions when I turned eighteen, so you have to too.” Ha! And the tone is set, Your Highness.

Sverre also sees an opportunity to tease his sister back. When the princess asks why it is so nice to be her brother, Sverre pretends to have to think hard about a possible reason. Ultimately, the prince comes up with the fact that his sister has taught him many life lessons over the years, and that despite the endless bickering in their childhood, they have become very close. Sweet!

Gamer prince

The whole purpose of the interview was of course to give the world a little insight into Sverre’s life, and that’s why Ingrid asks her brother the proverbial whole thing. We find out what his favorite animal is (dog), his favorite movie (The Shawshank Redemption) and his favorite series (Brooklyn Nine-Nine).

Moreover, Sverre reveals that he (just like our princesses used to!) likes to play Minecraft. Who knows: would the next-gen royals all curl up behind the computer for an evening of gaming?

That moment

That Ingrid Alexandra, like a real journalist, does not avoid difficult subjects, is evident when she asks her brother about that one viral moment on the palace balcony a few years earlier. Exactly yes, the ‘dab’:

In retrospect, Sverre looks back on this moment with some mixed feelings. The prince explains that he has learned his lesson. But according to him, the action was mainly due to a real sugar rush. “I ate a lot of ice cream. I think I was standing there five ice cream deep, and then I had a sugar rush right as we were walking out.”

We shouldn’t expect such a viral moment from the young royal again anytime soon, but he will undoubtedly be indispensable as a source of support for his sister in the coming years. In any case, things are going well with their band!
