The new year seems to be off to a good start for presenter Sylvie Meis (45) and entrepreneur Wim Beelen (48). But that happiness turns out to be short-lived, because the couple has already broken up. After a few months the two break off their love affair. Although they remain friends.

As a famous Dutch person (and now also well known in Germany), Sylvie Meis’ life is always in the spotlight. Her turbulent love life in particular is often discussed in the media. Especially after the break with her long-term lover Rafael van der Vaart, with whom she had son Damiàn, things became quite loose. Sylvie is linked to a lot of men. However, her love life now seemed just as stable during her relationship with the 48-year-old entrepreneur and Amsterdam multimillionaire Wim Beelen. In October 2023, the relationship with Wim was officially confirmed by Sylvie. Although they met each other the summer before. “She didn’t even know who I was,” Wim told Het Financieel Dagblad at the time. After that, Wim thought about her constantly and apparently she also thought about him.
For a moment, a bright future appears on the horizon for Sylvie. They even ring in the new year together. However, the relationship between Sylvie and Wim is really over and done with, Wim confirms to RTL Boulevard. He does let it be known that he and Sylvie remain friends. He also calls Sylvie “a super nice, sweet, incredibly smart woman”, but: “The life she leads is just not my life.”

Stay friends
In any case, they do not completely disappear from each other’s lives. Sylvie and Wim say they remain friends. Only Wim prefers to live his own life. He doesn’t think he fits in with Sylvie’s life, which is in the spotlight all the time. He actually likes to stay in the background. “I’m just Wim and my life is just my life,” he says. “And that’s not going to be any different. Then you can like someone and move on, but that’s pointless. I just want to live my life.”
Sylvie is currently back in Hamburg, where she has a home. We see this on her most recent Instagram post. “Happy to be back,” she captioned the photo. There are hardly any more photos with Wim on her Instagram, except for the photo of New Year’s Eve.
