Máxima was in Rotterdam today for two working visits. Around her neck was an old acquaintance: her peanut necklace by the Dutch ceramicist Pauline Wiertz.
The working day started with a visit to Plinkr Nazorg. This is a digital coaching method for financial counselors who guide people towards a financially healthy future and is being scaled up nationally by SchuldenlabNL.
The court car then drove on to Team Toekomst. This foundation in Delfshaven is committed to providing children who do not grow up with equal opportunities with a safety net in their own neighborhood. They do this by focusing on improving social-emotional skills, self-confidence and educational results.
Fashion
In terms of clothing, the queen opted for dark blue trousers, a white top and a white vest. The latter garment is a design by Zara.
Accessories
The real eye-catcher adorns Máxima’s neck. The design called ‘feeding the birds’ comes from the studio of the -now deceased- Dutch ceramicist Pauline Wiertz. In my book The Magic of Máxima she explained the piece of jewellery herself at the time. “The necklace came about as follows: in the autumn I strung a string of peanuts for the birds. Then I thought: that would make a beautiful necklace! For the jewel I cast real peanuts in plaster. This resulted in different enamels, because the peanuts are very different in shape. I then cast porcelain in the moulds, resulting in porcelain peanuts. After a drying process I finished the peanuts by hand, glazed them and baked them. They were then partly painted with gold lustre and baked again after decorating. (….) Of course the cast peanuts are hollow, otherwise the jewel would have been too heavy.”
The bag, which also surfaced last week, is a Marni design.
The golden studs in her ear are from the Danish label Monies.
