Matthijs van Nieuwkerk will no longer be working at RTL. The collaboration is officially off, despite the fact that they had signed a four-year contract last year.

The report spoke of misconduct and that is of course really not done.

RTL had no other choice than to suspend the collaboration. And now it is completely over and done with. Matthijs himself has indicated that he would rather have his freedom. RTL says in a statement: “We have no choice but to respect his decision and given the circumstances we understand that,” the channel reports. “We wish him all the best for the future.” Matthijs himself does not want to respond to the news. His manager says that there is nothing to add to the message from RTL.
No Olympic Games from Paris
Matthijs would make a talk show on Sundays at RTL. He was also in the picture to present a program about the Olympic Games from Paris. That job was later taken over by Humberto Tan.

For some time now, people have been talking about a video in which you can hear Matthijs displaying verbally transgressive behavior. This would also be proof that Matthijs has actually crossed the line. Presenter and friend of Matthijs Özcan Akyol told Vandaag Inside that this video actually exists. ‘Eus’ also indicated at Humberto that there are images of ‘not so friendly behavior’ from Matthijs. These recordings were supposedly made during the rehearsals of DWDD. Eus talked to former employees of DWDD and then watched the video himself. “The words that are there, how people treat each other. Then I thought: I don’t know this side that well either, so I don’t know exactly who I’m defending now,” Eus said. At 3FM they ‘played’ this video.

Juice queen Yvonne Coldeweijer had also received the TikTok video in question. “Uh darling, is this the video?” she wrote. She was quite surprised about the video, which Özcan may have talked about. She wondered “why he exaggerated the content so much”. In the video, the presenter is a bit angry, but verbally it does not become very violent. The DWDD editors around him fall silent, but despite that it all seems quite normal. Incidentally, the images also come from a documentary about DWDD. If this is the infamous video, it would indeed have been public images.
