Let’s swing: this is Joost Klein’s song for the Eurovision Song Contest

Tonight, Joost Klein, in collaboration with Arjen Lubach, unveiled his entry for the Eurovision Song Contest. Joost will be in Malmö with Europapa in May.

Europapa

It was announced last week that the unveiling of Joost Klein’s Eurovision Song Contest entry would take place today. The song has just been shown to the world for the first time in a one-off broadcast of the Afternoon Evening Show with Arjen Lubach. The official music video has also been released.

As we have come to expect from Joost Klein, Europapa is a catchy mix with a high nineties party content with influences from DJ Paul Elstak and a sweet touch of nostalgia. The song is a letter to his father, whom he lost at a very young age.

When he enters the studio, Joost immediately lets us know that he is really looking forward to it. “Finally, I’m here!” he shouts at Lubach’s table. After this he immediately admits that a lot of emotions are going through him.

In addition, Joost is not only a great creative person musically, but he reveals that he designed his bright blue (or excuse me: Europapa blue) suit himself. Who knows what kind of Klein Couture we will see in Sweden!

Joost Klein

Joost Klein may not be a very well-known name to the general public, but he is extremely popular among the younger generations. For example, his performance at Lowlands last year has already been viewed almost a million times. He was also rewarded with the Pop Prize earlier this year, and he can also count on a lot of popularity among our eastern neighbors.

You may also know Joost from his Eurovision Song Contest campaign. The good man has been campaigning for months to be allowed to go to Malmö. And let’s be honest: that genuine enthusiasm is incredibly refreshing.

Eurovision Song Contest

Eurovision enthusiasts (such as the Beau Monde editors) have a busy day today. In addition to Europapa’s release, Switzerland and Cyprus also unveiled their entries. The song Dizzy by British singer Olly Alexander will also be released tonight at 1 a.m. Dutch time.

In Malmö, Joost must first prove himself in the semi-finals, which will take place on May 9. There he can perform in the second part of the show to compete for a spot in the Grand Final on May 11. We’re betting that this should turn out all right. Joost Klein, dream big!
