Kiran Badloe was born in Almere in 1994. In his youth he lived on Bonaire for three years with his parents and sister. This is where his love for windsurfing began. When he returned to the Netherlands, Kiran lived in Lelystad with his family. Here he obtained a HAVO diploma while continuing with windsurfing. After high school, Kiran studied lifestyle coaching at Inholland University of Applied Sciences. Due to his sports career, he stopped after two years.
Career
In 2010, Kiran participated in the Youth Olympic Games for the first time. This was during the summer edition in Singapore. The following year he competed in the World Youth Championships and finished eleventh. In 2013 he won for the first time during the ISAF World Cup in Palma, Mallorca. In 2014, Kiran became part of Dorian van Rijsselberghe’s training group. This year he finished seventh at the ISAF World Cup in Santander. In 2016 he participated in the World Cup. Van Rijsselberge won the silver medal here, Kiran himself won bronze. In 2017, Kiran won gold at the World Sailing World Cup.
From 2019 to 2021, Kiran was world windsurfing champion. He won the title three times in a row. He also won the Conny van Rietschoten Trophy in 2021. In 2021, Kiran won his first Olympic medal, which was gold! He won this during the Summer Games in Tokyo. At the end of 2021 he won the Conny van Rietschoten Trophy again.
Unfortunately, Kiran was unable to qualify for the Olympic Games in 2024. But he certainly doesn’t sit still. This year he makes his television debut on Expeditie Robinson!
