We all can’t wait until the weather is nice outside and we can enjoy an ice cream. New ice cream flavors come onto the market every year and we are eager to try these new flavors. We only have some doubts about the new product from Kesbeke pickles: these are pickle-vodka ice creams. We have so many questions: is this tasty? Is this real? Or is it an early April Fool’s joke?
Pickle vodka ice creams
Maybe you had already seen it on Instagram, the pickle-vodka ice creams. Kesbeke developed these ice creams in collaboration with 24 ICE. Oos Kesbeke, The Pickle King, shares a video on Instagram with his sons Camiel and Silvian in which they say that they think this product will be the hit of this year. According to the family, pickles are mainly known by the older generations and they want to change that with this product. The younger generation is very focused on healthy eating and they are often unaware of the health benefits of pickles. This vegan and gluten-free ice cream therefore fits perfectly into today’s health trends.

Submissions for the name
The not obvious flavor combination of pickle and vodka causes confusion among many people. Is this an early April Fool’s joke? Kesbeke says: “Adding sea salt to caramel was once dismissed as inedible nouveauté. It is now considered a culinary discovery.”
The name of this new ice cream is still unknown. The vodka-flavored pickle ice cream doesn’t come out very tasty either. That is why Kesbeke and 24 ICE have combined the arrival of this product with a competition. “We have entered into a consumer competition. An original, catchy brand name is extremely important. When coming up with that name, we would like to take into account the idea that the gherkin, as a sour bomb, is in fact a typical Dutch product and in that sense an unadulterated piece of cultural heritage.”
What do you think, is this tasty and above all, is it real?
