Remember when we were all glued to the TV to follow Sylvia Geersen’s adventure in The Bachelorette? Sylvia fell madly in love with her captain Joris and the love was mutual. Cute! Unfortunately, their love did not last long. Until now, the reason for the breakup remained a secret, but in a candid interview with RTL Boulevard, Sylvia Geersen now cautiously opens up.
Reason for the relationship breakdown
Although Sylvia and Joris were very much in love, their future plans turned out to differ… Fortunately, Syl and her captain still get along well. “Joris and I are very good friends and we both think it’s a shame. We really had fun together. Our relationship could have been really great, we didn’t break up because we didn’t have feelings for each other.” But what was the breaking point between the lovebirds? Well, it turns out to be because of a sensitive subject. Sylvia explains: “I wanted a child. Joris wasn’t ready for that and he thought sailing was very important. And that is important of course. But at a certain point I was at home, he was just sailing.” Unfortunately, this turned out to be too big an obstacle for the two. Ouch! Painful.
Children and marriage
And it didn’t stop there. Sylvia had many more plans for the future with her captain: “I would have preferred to marry him and have children”. Still, she wishes Joris the very best, although she has to admit honestly: “I do love that boy and I mean, I really wish him everything. But I really don’t need to see him with another girl. Then I get jealous, but he has that with me too”.
Sylvia Geersen single again
Now that Geersen doesn’t have a captain waiting for her at home, she has spent the summer as a single woman. And what was that summer like as a real single lady? “I have to tell you: I’ve recovered nicely,” she admits with a laugh. But finding a new love is not that easy. “I have to have a connection with someone. I have to meet that person somewhere, nice and laughing.” Although she prefers to meet someone in real life, Sylvia is also on the dating app Raya. But that doesn’t really work. “Then I’m done with it again.” But who knows what the future holds for our Bachelorette… In any case, we’re keeping our fingers crossed for a happy ending!
