Wow!
Since the announcement of Joost Klein’s song Europapa for the Eurovision Song Contest, we can’t stop talking about it. And let that work exactly to our advantage for our entry this year. Joost has already entered the top 10 with bookmakers.
Europapa
Last Thursday, Joost Klein performed the song Europapa for the first time, with which he will represent our country at the Eurovision Song Contest in May. The singer did this in a one-off broadcast of the Afternoon Evening Show with Arjen Lubach. The official music video has also been released. And, that video clip has already been viewed more than 5 million (!) times.
As we have come to expect from Joost, Europapa is an infectious mix with a high nineties party content with influences from DJ Paul Elstak and a sweet touch of nostalgia.
Bookmakers
As always, the bookmakers are keeping a close eye on all entries this year and there is plenty of public speculation at betting offices about how all countries will do in Malmö this year. And guess what? Our own Joost just entered the top 10 today! Our Dutch entry entered the top 10 at number 9, but has already risen to number 7.
The Netherlands is currently in 7th place among bookmakers with a 4% chance of winning. Croatia is currently at the top, followed by Ukraine and Italy. Belgium, Switzerland and Sweden are the only three countries still between Joost Klein and the top 3, both with a 4% and 5% chance of winning. There is therefore a chance that ‘we’ will creep further up. Exciting!
Let’s count down
We can start the countdown to the big show. In Malmö, Joost must first prove himself in the semi-finals, which will take place on May 9. There he can perform in the second part of the show to compete for a spot in the Grand Final on May 11. We’re betting that this should turn out all right. Joost Klein, dream big!
