Have you noticed it yet? In the past, she always wore a skirt or dress, but nowadays we increasingly see Princess Beatrix wearing trousers.
In 2021, Harpers Bazaar wrote an article about women who you do not or almost never see in pants. This included Queen Elizabeth, Princess Charlotte, Queen Silvia, Queen Margrethe (I don’t think they saw the summer photos at Grasten Castle) and the former Queen Beatrix. The story doesn’t quite add up, they’ve all been seen wearing pants at some point. But, it does prove that our Grand Duchess was known for her preference for a skirt or dress.

It is age-related ailments that have caused Princess Beatrix to change her mind. She has had tape around her left ankle for a while now.

A walking stick is also increasingly useful. It’s nice that she can still do activities that are of her own interest. Because look at this picture of Beatrix, last week at the Holland Dance Festival. She is wearing black trousers here. The festive top makes the overall picture look very royal. And you can just see her enjoying this fun family outing.

In December last year, Princess Beatrix received the first Kingdom Calendar at Noordeinde Palace. This birthday calendar was made by students at The Hague University of Applied Sciences. For the calendar they used photos of the Dutch Caribbean Nature Alliance, of which Princess Beatrix is patron. Here too we see Beatrix wearing long black trousers, combined with a blue top with a zigzag pattern.

Let’s face it, Beatrix wearing thick black tights or tights, could you imagine that? I don’t see it happening anytime soon. It’s not that she never wears a skirt anymore, but she increasingly opts for trousers. Not much has changed in terms of tops. There we often see the same types of models as before. And so a new ‘Beatrix silhouette’ was actually created.

Beatrix often wears black trousers, often also dark blue. Occasionally we also see a different color, such as wine-red trousers here.

Airy fabrics are used in the Caribbean.

During a visit to Bonaire, Beatrix wore trousers several times, such as trousers and a blouse here, in a camouflage color, during a visit to the Washington Slagbaai National Park.

And so Princess Beatrix is again every bit royal in her new form.
