According to several insiders, Lady Louise Windsor could soon make a special career choice. With this, the eldest daughter of Princess Edward seems to follow in her grandmother’s footsteps.
Due to all sorts of archaic rules, Lady Louise Windsor saw the earldom of Wessex pass to her younger brother James. But the twenty-year-old daughter of Prince Edward and Duchess Sophie has ambitions galore! For example, various sources report that the young lady could be a special successor to her grandmother, the late Queen Elizabeth.
Louise and Elizabeth
As the eldest daughter of Elizabeth’s youngest son, Lady Louise is technically part of the line to the throne. However, she is so far removed from it that she can do her own thing. And that’s what the young lady does! She studies English at the University of St Andrew’s, and only appears in the royal spotlight very occasionally.
Yet the young adult lady is similar to her grandmother in several ways. For example, they have both had a passion for equestrian sports from a young age, and in May 2022, just months before Her Majesty’s passing, we saw Elizabeth enthusiastically applauding her granddaughter at the Windsor Horse Show.
And according to insiders, the young lady is now also taking an example from her grandmother professionally!
Spicy career
The Sun reports that insiders say Louise is aiming for a career in the British army. “She talks about how she would like a military career, serving the monarch and country,” an insider reportedly told the British tabloid.
Louise herself would state on her LinkedIn page: “I am interested in a career in the field of the military, diplomacy, or law.” A nice broad range of subjects for the twenty-year-old lady, who of course still has plenty of time to make a decision.
Royals in the army
If Louise does indeed enlist in the British Army, she would be the first royal lady since Queen Elizabeth to serve in the military.
Shortly after her eighteenth birthday, the then Crown Princess enlisted in the British troops. With this, Liz immediately had a world first, because she was the very first lady of royal descent to choose this.
Her parents, the then King George VI and Queen Elizabeth, were not exactly enthusiastic. It is said that her father thought it was more important that his daughter was trained for the throne than for the army.
Well, for Lady Louise, that pressure for the throne won’t be such a big deal. Who knows, maybe she’ll follow in her grandmother’s footsteps soon!
