Floris Göbel just shared a mega sad message on Instagram. His adorable puppy Ted is no more… The faithful four-legged friend passed away after the poor animal got poisoned. Sad, right?!
Farewell to dog Ted
“With great disbelief and sadness we had to say goodbye to our sweet dog Ted,” Göbel writes in a message on Instagram. Floris posts a heartwarming photo of himself relaxing on a bench while his dog Ted playfully bites his cap. Ugh, cuteness overload! But then comes the shocking announcement: “We did not see it happen, but after investigation it appears to have been caused by poisoning, probably from the green amanita or ‘dead angel’ mushroom. One of the most poisonous mushroom species in the world that grows here in the Netherlands. This mushroom is very dangerous for people and dogs. For puppies, a minuscule amount or lick can be fatal.”
Floris Göbel warns: be alert
Unfortunately, Floris is no stranger to poisonings. As an animal ambulance brother, Göbel has seen it more often. “Poisoning really happens in a split second or without you realizing it. If you suspect that your dog may have eaten something poisonous, go to the vet immediately and, if possible, take the substance with you.” But don’t panic, people! Floris doesn’t want us all to be afraid to go outside with our faithful four-legged friends. “Please don’t be afraid to go outside with your dog now, this specific situation really doesn’t happen very often and is also really a case of incredibly bad luck. Unfortunately, our Ted could not be saved.”

Awareness
We can only imagine how devastated Göbel is by this. But let’s use Ted’s tragic story to raise awareness about the dangers our furry BFFs can encounter on their adventures. So, dog owners, be very careful about what your furry bestie is sniffing out and eating on those walks. And when in doubt, don’t take any chances and rush straight to the vet. Better safe than sorry, right?
