The Friends cast wasn’t ready for the red carpet. Her beloved colleague Matthew Perry (✝54) drowned in his hot tub on October 28th. He was known for his role as Chandler Bing in the American sitcom Friends. His colleagues and friends Jennifer Aniston (54), Courteney Cox (59), Lisa Kudrow (60), Matt LeBlanc (56) and David Schwimmer (57) were deeply shocked. The cast did not want to take part in honoring the deceased at this year’s Emmy Awards and decided not to see each other again.
The show’s producers, Jesse Collins and Jeannae Rouzan-Clay, spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about the four cast members’ decision: “They’re grieving the loss of someone who was very close to them. We have to respect that.” Jeannae added that death was “still too fresh for them” to gather in public. On the evening of Emmy Awards The Hollywood star was bid farewell with an emotional song by Charlie Puth (32).
The actor’s funeral took place at Forest Lawn Memorial Park last November. The cemetery is located across from Warner Bros Studios, where “Friends” was filmed for ten seasons. According to the co-star Hank Azaria (59) there was a lot of laughter despite the sad occasion. The funeral ended with the song “Don’t Give Up” by Peter Gabriel.
