Many people become famous and have a career thanks to TikTok. How YouTube first prepared influencers, this is now TikTok. This is not the only thing the app is good for. TikTok is also a major influence on the music industry. A song goes viral, the radio picks it up and boom, your career is up (if you do more with this). Look at Lil Nas X, whose song went viral and now easily sells out big venues. Sure, there are several ways to be discovered, but how nice is it to get this boost?
Keep posting your song
Someone will start spreading your song, so do it yourself! Post TikToks with your song underneath, whether the video is about it or not. More and more people are using your song and they may adopt it. What is also possible: come up with a challenge or trend for your audio and participate fully in it yourself. Create a dance for your up-tempo song or choose a specific piece of text and build a trend around it.
Nothing is too much
Don’t be afraid to post a lot of content with your song. Not all of the videos you make will end up on someone’s for you page. Every now and then one comes along, causing the user to (hopefully) recognize your song. Change the content a bit. When someone lands on your page, you don’t want it to be the same all the time.
Advertising on TikTok
Invest in ads on TikTok. They receive advertisements based on user activities. Is someone already completely into your music genre? Then there is a greater chance that they will like and add your song to Spotify or Apple Music.
Advertising is also possible via influencers. They use your song under their videos to unknowingly promote the song. Let them create a trend or challenge themselves or they can use the idea you provide.
What is always a plus is already having a (small) fan base. They come into contact with the videos that you post or have posted. By liking it and sharing it further, the distribution process goes just a little bit faster.
Have hope in your music career
Most importantly: believe in yourself and hope for the best. Some trends simply take off faster than others. Also remember that you will not see results right away. Put a lot of time into it. Then the radio stations picked up the song again and it was as if the song had never left.
