Radiant looks and deep bows during festive reception

Our Amalia has clearly mastered the nod well.

After a busy program, the last part of the Spanish state visit to the Netherlands was discussed yesterday: the return! Once again, a good dose of glamor was used for this.

Counter performance

Yes, you read that correctly: after just two days, the Spanish royal couple’s flash visit to our country has already come to an end. Alas, alas! But before the Spanish delegation left for their home country, there was one more important point on the program: the so-called counter performance!

On these occasions we regularly see all kinds of orchestras performing to the best of their abilities as a thank you to the host country. Things were a bit different in Amsterdam yesterday: the counter performance there was all about street art! Felipe and Letizia received Willem-Alexander, Máxima and Amalia at the STRAAT Museum for a festive end to their visit.

Glamor on the street

When you think of glamour, you might not immediately think of graffiti, but oh well. It’s hip, it’s modern, and it’s international – and therefore a great location for a royal reception, nun?

For the occasion, the tiaras and evening gowns remained in the closet this time, but that doesn’t mean the royals present didn’t look fantastic.

Letizia impressed in a Benchellal gown with a beautiful draped look. Could la reina have drawn inspiration for the occasion from that beautiful coat that our own Máx wore two years ago during Budget Day? In our opinion, this dress is a beautiful nod to the Amsterdam designer. Of course, Felipe also looked his best again – it is not without reason that he is known as a fashion king!

Our own Oranjes also showed up beautifully in a set of green and blue ensembles. Máxima once again opted for a Jan Taminiau dress, which she combined with a set of pumps by (of course!) Gianvito Rossi.

Although our crown princess largely kept her sea-green dress hidden, the experts at UFO No More have already identified her dress as a flowy wrap dress from the Phase Eight label. She finished her look with a strong piece of gold arm candy from Marina Raphael and gold-colored Stuart Weitzman pumps. All in all, a beautiful look for a beautiful crown princess – it’s almost a shame she kept her coat on.

The Princess of Orange also showed that in terms of protocols she is completely ready for a career as a serious royal. She made a deep curtsy to the Spanish monarch, just as it should be, of course!

In addition to the royal couple with their eldest daughter, Princess Margriet and Prof. Pieter van Vollenhoven were also present at the reception.

For the occasion, Margriet chose an outfit with a brocade print by Samuel Dong. Floral!

Parting

Naturally, a group photo was taken of the group of royals and artists during the evening, and after the reception it was time to say goodbye.

This is how the state visit (much too short in our opinion) has come to an end. The fact that the two royal families have a good relationship was evident from the unique thank you from our king to his fellow monarch. During the state banquet it turned out that Princess Amalia had lived in Madrid for quite some time – with some help from the Spanish royal couple. Aww!

Who knows: hopefully the Oranjes will soon plan a visit to Spain. We would love a reunion of the families around Guillermo-Alejandro and Felipe!
