Controversial Prince Andrew home is said to be ‘completely dilapidated’

Is Charles going to throw his brother out of the house after all?

Prince Andrew and his Royal Lodge continue to stir people’s minds. The rumors that he would soon have to leave his royal villa are going around in full force again.

Royal Lodge

In case you missed the whole story, here’s a summary. Prince Andrew may no longer have any titles or official role within the court after all his scandals, but he still has a lavish mansion with thirty rooms. And that is thanks to a contract he had concluded with his mother, the late Queen Elizabeth. It states in black and white that he can continue to live in the villa until 2078.

But yes: not performing any royal duty, being hit with scandals and living off the goodwill of your family in a luxury lodge? That doesn’t look very good. That is why there have been persistent rumors since last summer that King Charles wants to have his brother leave the villa. That seemed to fizzle out thanks to Sarah Ferguson.

Although on paper she has been separated from her Duke for years, the two have been living together in the Lodge for years. Plenty of room, of course. Because she had to deal with a few serious blows in terms of health, Charles would have been reluctant to do so. So everything seemed to be fine again around the Royal Lodge.

Dilapidated building

However, several royalty watchers now report that the discussion in the palace has flared up again. A condition of Andrew’s stay at the lodge is that he takes care of the maintenance. But without royal chores and with an uninviting image, it will not surprise you that the prince is currently not very good at farming. And that makes paying for all that maintenance just a little bit more difficult.

The house is now said to be ‘completely dilapidated’, royalty journalist Ian Pelham Turner reportedly reported to Fox News. For example, the house would suffer from moisture problems and wear and tear in general. “The cracks in the stones are getting worse,” Pelham Turner said. In addition, there would be crumbling plaster and the house could use a new layer of paint in various places. Oh dear!

Favorite son

Over the years, various sources have reported that Andrew was Liz’s favorite, and Pelham Turner writes that she even asked Charles on her deathbed to take good care of his younger brother.

“But,” Pelham Turner explains, “King Charles is determined that with such a large house, especially one that requires a significant investment… He can only do that for William and his children.”

In short: the row over the Royal Lodge is far from resolved, it seems. To be continued – undoubtedly!
