“I don’t think I’ve ever done so little,” the prince admits.
The beginning of the year is always packed with all kinds of awards, ceremonies, prizes, and other red carpet events. In addition to all the awards in Hollywood, the BAFTAs also belong on this list – with perhaps the most royal edge of them all. Prince William has been the honorary chairman of the organization for years, and it is a regular occurrence that he attends the ceremony together with Princess Kate.
Solo appearance
This year, however, things are different: Catherine is still recovering from her abdominal operation and will only stay indoors for the foreseeable future because of her health. And so my husband had to walk the red carpet alone.
Although the absence of the princess obviously does not improve the glamor level, fortunately Wills also knows a thing or two about unpacking. HRH appeared in a deep blue velvet jacket – slightly different from a standard jacket and tie outfit. And of course we can only appreciate that.
Kate
The prince also speaks briefly about the absence of his great love. He apologizes, among other things, on behalf of Kate, who was very disappointed that she had to miss the British film festival this year. “She obviously loves the BAFTAs,” William shares.
The prince himself also apologizes to the organizers. It is said that His Highness announced at the last minute that he would attend the evening after all. He also confessed that he had watched few of the nominated films in preparation.
“I have never done so little. With my wife it’s a bit…’, William begins. Although he doesn’t finish his sentence, we understand all too well how he must be feeling: with Kate recovering from a tough operation and his father’s tough diagnosis, William has a lot on his mind at the moment. Let alone that he still has time for an evening of movie watching!
“Hopefully we can catch up!”, the highness said. “I’ll make my list tonight.”

Luckily, it looks like they had a great time all evening. He had a nice chat beforehand with Cate Blanchett, among others…

…And afterwards, the prince apparently had fun with the Rising Star category nominees, actresses Phoebe Dynevor, Ayo Edebiri, Sophie Wilde, and Mia McKenna.
A great evening to distract from the situation at home, we think!
Wills also already has a movie in mind for the coming days that he can still watch: he still hasn’t seen Barbie. Come on your highness, let’s go party!
