Bienvenido! Willem-Alexander and Máxima receive the Spanish royal couple in style

The two queens clearly get along great!

After the festive reception of the Luxembourgish couple in Belgium yesterday, the second state visit of this week started today. This morning, Spanish King Felipe and Queen Letizia were warmly welcomed by our own King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima.

State visit

The Euroyals are busy: both our own country and our southern neighbors are currently hosting a state visit. In Luxembourg, the first day of the royal visit ended yesterday with a radiant state banquet. The Spanish royals have now also arrived in the Netherlands for a rapid state visit with a packed program!

Full suitcases

Although the visit of the Spanish royal couple only lasts three days, Letizia has already shown that she has brought a large selection of clothing with her.

When leaving Spain, Letizia and Felipe were snapped yesterday in their usual business outfits. Leti opted for a black Hugo Boss suit with a set of subtle Massimo Dutti pumps.

A quick change of clothes followed on the plane, according to photos of the arrival at Schiphol. Here Leti conjured up outfit number two! Once again, her highness chose Boss: she wore an elegant off-shoulder top with her Hugo Boss Vesatie skirt in beige silk and Carolina Herrera pumps. She also wore this yesterday at a special meeting for the Spanish community in the Netherlands.

Official reception

Today the official program finally started. This morning the two royal couples appeared on Dam Square (or la Plaza Dam, as the Spanish royalty watchers call it) in a set of royal tone-on-tone outfits.

Máxima looked radiant in a deep red outfit by (how could it be otherwise) Natan. Leti, in turn, opted for a sea green gown with cape sleeves and a matching bag, both from Moises Nieto. It’s not our favorite outfit of the Spanish queen, but hey – she still looks gorgeous, nun?

The two ladies clearly got along great, because there was a lot of chatting, chatting and giggling during the warm welcome.

Program with a scoop

Today and tomorrow there are all kinds of important events on the agenda – from sporting to hydrogen and from finance to mental health. Many topics are covered!

Now that’s all well and good, but we are especially looking forward to tonight’s undoubtedly spectacular state banquet. Princess Amalia will also be present here for the first time. This means that we will finally be treated to a tiara moment from our crown princess! Who knows which diadem she will choose this time: that peacock tail again with all its rubies? Or maybe that Mellerio tiara? In any case, we are ready for it!
