Look for the differences!
After the Windsors, the Belgian King Philippe and Queen Mathilde have now also shared their Christmas card for this year. They wish everyone happy holidays with a nice family snapshot and a sweet photo from the old box.
Christmas with the southern neighbors
Admittedly, the photo is not very Christmassy or festive. Anyway, the royal couple and their offspring look beautiful, and that is also worth something. We see Princess Eléonore, Prince Gabriel, Princess Elisabeth, and Prince Emmanuel posing next to their proud parents. No matching outfits, no Santa hat, just a nice photo with the fam.

The Belgian court writes with the photo: “The new Christmas cards have just been delivered! It is the tenth photo of the Royal Family for the end-of-year celebrations since the beginning of the monarchy.” And such a Christmas card anniversary? This could benefit from some extra attention! This is also the opinion of the royals, who, in addition to their 2023 snapshot, also shared the version from ten years ago. “Who remembers the Christmas photo from 2013? Swipe to (re)discover the photo!”, it reads.
Observant viewers will also spot a sweet similarity between the photo from just after Philip’s coronation and the snapshot today: “How nice that they are all in the same places as 10 years ago!” someone writes in the comments, using the trendy hashtag #10YearChallenge. Because let’s face it: it will be a bit moving for Filip and Mathilde to see how their little princes and princesses have suddenly surpassed them in height.
Festive fashion
It is of course noticeable that the matching outfits in 2013 have also been omitted this year. No identical red dresses for Elisabeth and Eléonore, no – the young princesses are both developing their own styles. Eléonore has again taken out her glittering gold Maje dress, which she also wore this summer for the National Day festivities. Unlike her mother and sister, Princess Elisabeth does not opt for a dress, but a modern (and slightly summery) business outfit. The fashion experts behind UFO No More have already identified her trousers and top as Dries van Noten designs.
And Mathilde? He is wearing a Natan dress in both photos. Some things never change.
