On Saturday, the day on which Joost Klein was supposed to shine during the final of the Eurovision Song Contest, it became clear that Joost was not allowed to perform. Joost was disqualified by the EBU just before he could realize his big dream. But what awaits the singer now?
AvroTros is waiting for the results of the research
AvroTros said in a statement that it is currently waiting for the results of the investigation by the Swedish Public Prosecution Service into the incident with Joost Klein during the Eurovision Song Contest. Only after these results are known will the broadcaster answer substantive questions about what happened and the possible consequences. This was confirmed by an AvroTros spokeswoman to the ANP. “We are currently waiting for the outcome of the investigation. Only then can we provide more information,” the broadcaster said.
Incident with a camerawoman
Joost’s disqualification from the Eurovision Song Contest has everything to do with an incident with a camerawoman from the festival. The incident is said to have taken place on Thursday evening, after which the camerawoman filed a complaint against him. The police in Sweden are investigating the case and will soon transfer the file to the Public Prosecution Service in Sweden. It will be decided there whether further steps will be taken against Joost, but this process could take several weeks, the Swedish police and the Public Prosecution Service said.
Joost Klein is back in the Netherlands
Joost is now back in the Netherlands. He left Malmö today and flew back to Lelystad by private plane, where he was then picked up in a darkened car.
