We all saw how Joost Klein’s dream went up in smoke during the Eurovision Song Contest. Yet there is a small bright spot in this story. His song Europapa proves to be extremely popular. And not only in the Netherlands, but also abroad. Go Joost!
Disqualification
Joost had qualified for the final of the Eurovision Song Contest and was looking forward to his performance on stage at the song festival in Sweden last Saturday. Unfortunately, Joost and therefore the Netherlands were disqualified due to an incident with a camerawoman. According to AvroTros, Joost allegedly made a threatening movement after repeatedly asking to stop filming.
Joost Klein doubles Instagram followers
Despite the incident, Joost’s popularity is growing enormously. Within a week he doubled his Instagram followers, from 600,000 to 1.4 million.
Who needs 12 points?
Furthermore, he is the only Eurovision Song Contest artist currently in the top 50 most streamed songs in the world on Spotify. Joost can proudly take the place in the Top 50 – World at number 25. In the Netherlands his song is number 1, with more than 740,000 streams, in Belgium with more than 186,000 streams and in Latvia with more than 18,000 streams. Although Joost hoped to hear the magical words “twelve points to the Netherlands”, these figures hopefully also offer him some comfort.
