Fortunately, there are also plenty of tricks to make them less noticeable.
Of course we all get older, but we prefer to do so as beautifully as possible. A make-up look can do wonders, but it can also go the wrong way. We share three makeup mistakes that actually accentuate wrinkles.
1. Don’t pay attention to the eyebrows
Eyebrows are extremely important for your overall appearance. As we get older, they can change shape and color. They often thin out and become gray or white. By leaving them like this, you accentuate the wrinkles around your eyes and create an older appearance than you probably want. To prevent this, it is a good idea to fill in your eyebrows where necessary. You can achieve a lot with a pencil, powder or colored gel. If there are really nothing left of your eyebrows and makeup is doing more harm than good for your face, then you can consider having them tattooed.
2. Wearing too much foundation
Applying foundation properly is still quite difficult. Using too little can make your face look blotchy, but you don’t want to use too much. Then it will look like a caked-on, thick layer of makeup that may cover imperfections such as pimples, but accentuates wrinkles more. Instead of a layer of foundation, it is therefore better to use a slightly tinted BB or CC cream. For large imperfections you can always use a nice concealer. This way you get a much fresher look.
3. Wearing lipstick that is too dark
Of course, there is no age limit for makeup products, but if a youthful appearance is your goal, you should avoid dark-colored lipstick. Dramatic shades can put a spotlight on the fine lines around your mouth – and you obviously don’t want that. Lipstick in pink and nude shades can actually make you look younger. You will achieve the best results if you subtly outline your lips with a pencil. This way you make them look fuller and more expressive.
