Charles receives ‘spiritual support’ from an unexpected source

Would the king really have found support and support in this monk?

Since Charles made his cancer diagnosis public, he has been able to count on a lot of support. Even from the spiritual corner the king now appears to be receiving support. A Greek Orthodox monk claims that Charles asked him for advice about his illness.

Support

Earlier this month, the world was shocked by the news that Charles was suffering from ‘a form of cancer’. Since then, people from all walks of life have expressed support for the monarch: from former prime ministers to TV stars and even the leader of the anti-monarchy movement Republic. The king himself recently said that he was “moved to tears” by all the messages.

Monk Archimandrite Ephraim

Now it seems that Charles is also receiving support from the spiritual corner. The king reportedly turned to Archimandrite Ephraim for advice regarding his diagnosis. The Greek Orthodox monk is said to have been friends with Charles for 25 years. According to Ephraim, the two have a good relationship and the monarch is said to have visited the abbot’s 10th-century Vatopedi monastery several times in the past. Now he has reportedly contacted the monk again.

Royals and spiritual figures

Although it remains a matter of speculation whether Charles actually sought advice from this loose-lipped monk, it would not be the first time that royals have become involved with spiritual figures when dealing with major health concerns. This is how the Romanovs once included Rasputin, and our own Juliana contacted the controversial Greet Hofmans. Now that didn’t have too much positive effect – something with death threats and communist spies – but that doesn’t necessarily mean that Mr. Ephraim can’t be a helping hand for Charles.

Anyway: we especially hope that Charles continues to follow his heart – whether with or without a monk. As long as the frost returns to normal soon!
