Yet the late Princess Diana managed to put a stop to that.
King Charles can also confirm that choosing ‘royal worthy’ first names for your children can be quite difficult. Because guess what? Charles had a completely different name in mind for Prince Harry. But the late Princess Diana put a stop to that.
Inspired name
King Charles had a completely different idea about the name of his second son. He actually wanted to name Harry after another famous royal. However, Diana didn’t think that was such a good idea.
For example, the prince himself revealed in his book Spare that his father wanted to name him after Queen Victoria’s husband, Prince Consort Albert. Harry explains that his father was a big fan of the prince for a while. However, his mother did not think the name was appropriate. For example, he writes in his book: “Mom turned it down.”
Solution
Yet Charles has somewhat gotten his way. Charles and Diana have come to a solution. Albert became one of Harry’s other names. Henry Charles Albert David to be precise. So Harry is actually not called Harry at all, but Henry. Ha!
Kate and William
Kate and Wills also had a hard time choosing the right names for their offspring. For example, they had a very ‘interesting’ way of choosing the name for their first child. When the couple had to choose a name, they reportedly placed the fate in the paws of their dog Lupo.
For example, Kate and William wrote their ‘top names’ on a piece of paper and placed it on the floor so Lupo could choose a name. Ultimately, their four-legged friend chose the names George, Alexander and Louis. It is one thing that is certain that Lupo had a good influence on the names of the princes. That’s how Kate and Wills named their first son George, and their second son Louis.
