If it were up to us, the Airfryer is the invention of the past few years. Delicious food without that enormous amount of (frying) fat. We are fans! Cleaning alone can be a nightmare. Burnt-on leftovers, sticky sauce and anything that gets stuck between the holes. But don’t worry: follow the steps below and your mini oven will smell fresh again!
How do you clean an Airfryer?
- Remove the basket and drawer from the Airfryer and make some soapy water with dishwashing liquid and lukewarm water. Clean everything with the soft side of a scouring pad or dishwashing brush and let it soak for a while.
- Use a skewer or toothpick to poke all the food out of the holes. Then dry everything with a tea towel.
- Wet a cloth with cleaning agent and water and clean the inside of the Airfryer. Make sure your cloth is not too wet. Check the entire Airfryer and the heating element for food residues and wipe them clean if necessary. Then put everything back together.
- Wipe the outside clean and dry with a tea towel, and your Airfryer is ready to use again. Bon appetit!
Does it still have an odor?
First of all, clean it as quickly as possible so that no food residue can stick to it. Are you late and do you smell a bit of a dirty smell when you slide it open? Then remove the basket and drawer and let them soak in soapy water for 30-45 minutes. If it still doesn’t smell fresh afterward, rub half a lemon on all surfaces. Let this sit for 30 minutes and then rinse well. If all goes well, your Airfryer should now smell completely fresh again!
