Did you know that with ‘normal’ use of your washing machine and dryer you use a lot of unnecessary energy? To keep energy costs lower this year, we have some simple hacks for your dryer that can save you a lot of money. This is them!
Reduce energy consumption of your dryer
We understand that making many adjustments to energy consumption in your daily life can sometimes be annoying, but it can ultimately save you a lot of money. You can also save some money on your dryer and benefit from it in the long term. To not make things more difficult than it is, we have some simple hacks for you that will reduce the energy consumption of your dryer.
Not a half full drum
Drying laundry with a half-full drum is of course a waste of money. It’s understandable that sometimes your clothes need to be rotated on different cycles, but there are better ways to deal with this. Do you have a half-full drum with clothes that need to be ironed dry? For example, also add clothes that need to be cupboard dried. Set your dryer to an iron-dry cycle and remove these clothes when they are ready. You can then let the cupboard-dry clothes dry further. Easy peasy.
Provide a warm room
If your dryer is in a (too) cold place, it will consume more energy. Isn’t your laundry always so nice and warm when it just comes out of the dryer? You understand that this heat has to come from somewhere. In a cool room, such as the garage or an icy attic, your machine has to work harder to get heat. So always place your dryer in a room where it is a bit warmer.
Surreptitious consumption
Did you know that your dryer uses energy when you leave your clothes in the drum for too long? When the program is finished and your laundry is still in the dryer, it automatically switches to standby or anti-crease mode… We also call this sneaking consumption. It’s nice of your machine to want to prevent wrinkles, but your wallet will probably be less happy about it.
To the cleaning
Wow! Your energy consumption in a dryer can increase by forty percent when you dry with a full dust filter. What a shame. So it is smart to clean your dryer (or actually the filter) often enough. This dries your laundry a lot better and faster and your machine uses much less unnecessary energy.
