Things aren’t going well for them, there in Buckingham Palace. After King Charles and Princess Kate had to take a break and even Prince William recently had to suddenly cancel an important event, several sources now report that Queen Camilla is also taking pause.
Absence
The year has certainly not started rosy for the British royals. For example, the Princess of Wales, Catherine, had to undergo a major operation from which she had to recover for several months, and Charles III had to undergo surgery and was subsequently diagnosed with cancer. To make matters worse, Prince William also recently missed an important memorial service for his godfather, the late King Constantine of Greece.
Among all these cancellations, however, one royal proves to be the rock of the Windsors, who makes plenty of visits on behalf of her husband: Queen Camilla has been busy with all kinds of royal duties in recent weeks.
Peace
However, according to various sources, Cam would now also not be seen for a while. The queen is said to be ‘exhausted’ and was therefore called back by her husband. Royalty watcher Ingrid Seward shares in conversation with tabloid newspaper The Sun: “He sees that she is exhausted. Camilla has had the utmost concerns for her husband’s health, but she has also been the one to maintain the busy schedule of Royal duties. In addition, she wants to be there for him and for Kate while they each have their own health problems.”
“She certainly deserves a little rest and relaxation,” concludes Seward.
Prickly situation
Camilla’s absence is a thorn in the side of many royalty watchers. For example, there is a lot of criticism on social media about the Queen’s holiday plans. Many find it difficult to imagine that the queen is really so exhausted after only 13 royal engagements in one month.
In addition, this holiday for the queen means that there is now one less royal to complete all royal tasks. Factoring in Wills’ sudden absence last week, this means all four of the most senior royals have been deliberately out of the picture in recent days. Of course, William is now showing up again at all kinds of events, but the mysterious air surrounding his cancellation is hardly reassuring. Hopefully the prince won’t have to cancel his plans again in the coming days!
