You may have already noticed: the royal agenda is empty until February 15. Due to a week of skiing and a rescheduled UN trip, we will have to take a break from the fashion news surrounding Máxima. Fortunately, the foreign royals have plenty in store and so does Máxima’s well-stocked walk-in closet. In this blog we look at an outfit that begs for a second chance.
Will the fashion of the sixties ever be surpassed? In terms of elegance and femininity, probably not. Add to this that the designs are independent of the times (read: always remain current) and you will understand why many fashion designers continue to recycle ideas from the sixties. This ensemble by Máxima debuted in 2009, but could have come straight from Jackie Kennedy’s closet due to the large, covered buttons.

Máxima wore the set once with the matching skirt, twice with trousers in a different shade, and then he was allowed to retire again. A shame, because with a different hat each time she could easily wear this outfit five or six more times in recent years. Due to the skirt length, it now fits in even better with fashion than when it debuted fifteen years ago. Let’s hope that the Queen reads this blog and takes the ensemble on a state visit to Vietnam next month. #fingerscrossed
