A festive phone call!
Last Tuesday, King Charles celebrated his 75th birthday. Of course, this memorable moment could not go unnoticed. For example, the royal family shared that a cheerful birthday party was organized for the birthday boy on Tuesday, and the monarch received a very special phone call.
Festive invitation return
King Charles was allowed to blow out no fewer than 75 candles last Tuesday. A prestigious occasion, which was of course used to organize a royal party. Son Harry also received an invitation, but according to rumors this was not answered positively. The prince is said to have thanked his father kindly and assured him that he will not make an appearance on his birthday, the Daily Mail previously wrote.
To say that Charles and Harry do not exactly have a warm father-son bond is quite an understatement. Now Harry has gone the extra mile. The prince returned Charles’ invitation for his birthday with a friendly thank you, if we can believe the stories.
Special moment
Yet the Duke of Sussex did not completely miss his father’s birthday. Harry would have called Charles to congratulate him personally. Oh, how sweet! A source confirmed to the British tabloid The Sun that they had a telephone conversation. Meghan also stopped by to put her father-in-law in the spotlight. It is the first time in six months that Charles has spoken to his son and daughter-in-law. According to the source, some plans have already been made to speak again. That must have been the supreme moment of the day, and a reunion may be on the royal agenda in the future. We certainly hope so!
Birthday party
The king’s 75th birthday was well celebrated this week. You might expect this to be accompanied by a lot of pomp and circumstance, but this time it was a bit disappointing. “His Majesty does not like to worry about such matters, but he is also acutely aware that there have been many major royal events of late, and his belief is that events around his birthday will be minimal,” an insider reported last summer.
Still, the ‘small and intimate’ affair looked like a lot of fun! We saw how a set of luxurious cakes were served, the seventies present showed off their best dance moves, and we saw an Elvis impersonator make an appearance. There were also more special activities on the agenda – all of course in the service of the public. Completely noblesse oblige, even on his birthday.
