Monaco’s fashion princesses in winter-warm designer outfits

Putting your nine-year-old in Dior and Dolce – that’s how it goes in Monaco.

Yesterday, the Grimaldis once again showed themselves in full designer regalia on the occasion of an open-air circus event. Although it is slightly warmer in Monaco than here, winter outfits were also worn there again.

Circus

Monaco is the microstate of the mega-rich, that is common knowledge. But it is also the country of the crème de la crème of the circus world, including the Festival International du Cirque de Monte-Carlo. This festival was founded in 1974 by Prince Rainier III, and has since become an annual phenomenon that takes place in January.

Last year the centenary of Prince Rainier’s birth was of course extensively celebrated, and this year the festival is celebrating its fiftieth anniversary. In short: a great set of reasons to go big! That is why an open air spectacle took place yesterday in which all kinds of circus artists presented themselves at their best for the princely family.

Grimaldis

For example, a grand show was given on the square in front of the palace for the Monegasques present, and the performers were also watched from the windows of the Palais Princier by an extensive selection of Grimaldis. Of course, Prince Albert and Princess Charlene were there with twins Gabriella and Jacques, and Princess Stéphanie could not be left behind as chairwoman of the organization. Son Louis Ducruet and daughter Camille Gottlieb were also present. In addition, Pierre Casiraghi and Beatrice Borromeo were also spotted with their sons Stefano and Francesco while enjoying the spectacle show.

And of course that happened completely in style! A few red clown noses for the kids could not be missed.

Designers galore

As we have come to expect from the Grimaldis, they were of course dressed in luxury labels from head to toe. Charlene wore a classic winter outfit with a camel-colored Emilia Wickstead coat, a brand that is also popular with Princess Kate and Duchess Sophie.

She combined this with a warm black turtleneck and a set of black Gianvito Rossi boots. Emilia Wickstead, Gianvito Rossi…it doesn’t get much more classically royal!

Yet it was daughter Gabriella who showed herself to be the ultimate fashion princess. The nine-year-old princess was dressed in a Dior coat and a pair of Dolce & Gabbana boots. Putting your nine-year-old in an outfit costing around 1,500 to 2,000 euros – oh well. If your clothing budget is as infinite as Charlene’s, why not?

Only Princess Stéphanie keeps it casual. As an enthusiastic organizer, she simply dressed in a practical outfit consisting of jeans with a warm fleece vest and a hat on which the logo of Rainiers Centennaire and the festival are clearly visible.

On January 19, the party will kick off in full force again, with the grand awards gala as the highlight on January 23 and another impressive series of shows until January 28. The Grimaldis will undoubtedly make an appearance there again on a regular basis. Who knows how many designer pieces the princesses will pull out of their closets in the coming week!
