The new year is just around the corner: maybe you are already busy thinking of good resolutions. Maybe you want to lose a few pounds, quit smoking or banish all stress from your life. But these resolutions are not always easy to achieve or maintain. That is why we have listed small changes for you. These are easier to achieve, but still have major positive effects on how well you feel.
1. Find your favorite relaxation
What is the thing that relaxes you the most? Maybe a lovely walk through the woods, a yoga session, binging your favorite series or getting some adrenaline in the gym? Whatever it is: make sure you make enough time (daily) for this activity and don’t always let yourself be consumed by the hurried world.
2. Do not continue running with muscle complaints
Stiff neck or back problems due to a lot of office work? Do not ignore the complaints and take action to get rid of the pain. By doing exercises daily it will soon feel better. Isn’t this the case? Then pay a visit to the physio.
Please note: physiotherapy is (unfortunately) not included in the basic insurance. Do you want to have the treatments reimbursed? Then you need additional health insurance. You can compare your health insurance for 2024 from November 14, 2023.
3. Provide sufficient daylight
Sufficient daylight in the morning stimulates your brain to wake up, so you will notice that you have a lot more energy. Sunlight also produces vitamin D, which, among other things, will make you feel fitter and make your skin more radiant. So go outside more often and expose yourself to the sun. Make sure you avoid strong sun rays so that you don’t burn. It may also be wise to apply SPF (at least your face), even if the sun is not very bright.
4. Avoid light products
Light products are often highly processed: many nutrients have been removed and many synthetic substances have been added. Therefore, try to ignore these and instead opt for unprocessed (or minimally processed) products. For example, don’t go for flavored yogurt, but choose natural yogurt and add fruit yourself. Also grab an apple instead of a piece of apple pie. You will see that this will make you feel better!
5. Put on your walking shoes every day
The benefits of a daily walk are great: walking provides better physical and mental health, weight control, improved digestion and a strengthened cardiovascular system. A walk also gives you a lot of energy, especially after a long day of sitting. Of course, you don’t have to walk for hours every day: a short walk can offer great benefits.
6. Laugh and enjoy
Perhaps the most important tip: don’t forget to laugh (every day!). Together with your loved ones, colleagues or perhaps alone for your favorite series. Regularly plan things that make you happy and cheerful, such as a visit to a cabaret, the cinema or the museum.
Try to live a healthy lifestyle, but don’t put too much pressure on yourself: you don’t have to exercise for hours every day or always ignore the piece of apple pie. If you impose all kinds of rules on yourself, it often has the opposite effect. Therefore, look for a way that works for you.
Relax through the new year
Hopefully the above tips will help you easily create a healthier lifestyle, so that you feel fit and happy and enjoy it all year round.
