Every year many people enjoy a week (or two) of winter sports. Wonderful skiing, snowboarding and relaxing during the après-ski, sign us up. Besides the fact that winter sports are very fun and enjoyable, it is also a great treatment for your body, because with winter sports you also burn a lot of calories here and there.

Burn calories on winter sports

Even if you go on holiday to a beautiful country, winter sports are also real sports, just like football or tennis. Skiing or skating for a week is therefore also very healthy for your body. To skate

Skating is of course in our blood as Dutch people, so for a fun and healthy workout, this is the perfect sport to practice. You also burn about 545 calories per hour!

Sleighing

Unless you go bobsledding, fun sledding is of course not a sport per se. Yet an hour on the sled burns no less than 230 calories. Once again fun and healthy. what more do we want?

To ski

Most people go to the mountains to ski. Besides being a popular winter sport, it is also very good for your body. You burn about 400 kcal with an hour of skiing. Slightly less than skating, but you do use your entire body. Not bad.

Cross-country skiing

You can also count on a lot of calories burned on the slopes during cross-country skiing. With one hour of this winter sport you can lose 475 calories! It is intensive, but with a beautiful view it is worth it, right?

Building an igloo

Now it is not necessarily a sport (we wish), but it is a lot of fun to do during your winter holidays. With kids, but without them it works fine too. 😉 With this ‘sport’ you burn about 340 calories!

Good food

Winter sports are all well and good, but they are also known to be very intense. So always eat and drink enough before you go out and otherwise take something to snack with along the way. Don’t forget to enjoy the après-ski after your successful workout.
