The British royals have a tight schedule over the holidays. In addition to church visits, the numerous obligations also include the annual Christmas walk with the entire family. Darren McGrady was the personal chef of the late Queen Elizabeth (✝96), Princess Diana (✝36) and Princes William (41) and Harry (39) for fifteen years and is well informed. He now provides an insight into the traditions – this is how King Charles III celebrates. (75) probably the new year!
Charles and Camilla (76) will be at Sandringham for the first day of the New Year. They already spent the Christmas holidays there. Once there, they should first visit the church before enjoying a “simple” lunch at their residence. According to the chef, such a lunch consists, for example, of Christmas turkey, Brussels sprouts, fried potatoes and salad. For dessert there is fried plum pudding and brandy butter, as he reveals on Instagram.
Of course, even a simple lunch with the royals is time-consuming – and requires almost six months of preparation. “We made the Christmas and New Year plum pudding at Sandringham in July, just after the garden parties and before heading to Balmoral for the summer… so the plum pudding had time to ripen,” the chef explains.
