Minion time! Despicable Me 4 is now in full swing in cinemas. We love the Minions and for good reason. They are loyal, sweet and very naughty. You are guaranteed to have fun during the film. But why are they all male? We have found out for you.
The Minions
When we talk about Gru’s bright yellow helpers, we are of course talking about the Minions. You know, those yellow figures that make sounds that are not only hilarious, but the words they produce are too. They have a gibberish language. The yellow helpers are everywhere and nowhere. Their humor is universal and timeless. Despite the fact that they look alike, they all have differences in appearance, behavior and preferences. They all have their own name. A group that works together, but still consists of individuals. The Minions can be recognized by their height, cheerfulness and smooth skin. They are irresistible. They are so sweet and naughty that you would like to hold them. Right?
Minions look like children, but at the same time they are adults. They have a job and they get grumpy when they are hungry. Young and old mixed together. Did you know that they are not actually from Hollywood, but from France?
Despicable 4
A lot happens in Despicable 4. Gru’s family has grown with a baby and they can’t enjoy it peacefully. Gru has put the supervillain Maxime Le Mall behind bars and he has escaped. This man wants revenge. Gru and his family have to temporarily hide with a new identity in a posh town of Mayflower. This only works for a short while, because that’s where the danger lurks. Neighbor girl Poppy threatens to unmask Gru unless he helps her with a burglary. In the meantime, the Minions do all kinds of experiments to become superheroes. This with varying degrees of success. This is why there are no female variants
There is a reason why there are no female versions of Kevin, Bob and Stuart. This is actually very simple. Pierre Coffin, the spiritual father of the Minions, could not imagine that there should be women among them. This is because the yellow helpers often act stupid and idiotic. Pierre therefore chose to develop male versions. Where the Minions come from still remains a mystery.
