Princess Anne admitted to hospital after incident on her own estate

Bumblebee lesson at Gatcombe Park…

Although she happily strolled through the Royal Ascot equestrian event last week, Princess Anne is currently looking a little less cheerful. The only daughter of the late Queen Elizabeth has ended up in hospital after being involved in an incident at her Gatcombe Park estate.

Hopital

Princess Anne is in hospital with ‘minor injuries’ and ‘a concussion’ after an accident that took place on Sunday evening. Buckingham Palace has confirmed she suffered her injuries at her own estate in Gatcombe Park. In a statement, the palace said the princess remains at Southmead Hospital in Bristol as a precaution and for observation. King Charles’ sister is expected to – fortunately – recover fully and quickly.

Buckingham Palace added: “The King has been kept closely informed and joins the entire Royal Family in sending his well wishes to the Princess for a speedy recovery.”

Incident

Hello! Magazine reports that Anne was walking on her estate when the incident occurred. While the exact cause of her injuries has not been confirmed, her medical team did reveal that her head injuries were consistent with the possible impact of a horse’s head or legs. After the incident, the emergency services quickly arrived on the scene and after a medical check, Anne was taken to hospital.

Anne’s husband, Sir Tim Laurence, and her children, Peter Phillips and Zara Tindall, were at the estate at the time of the incident.

Royal duties

The accident comes at a rather unfortunate time for the British royal family, as Princess Anne took over many royal duties from the ailing King Charles and Princess Kate. In recent months, she has managed to largely fill the gap created by the decrease in working royals.

It is not without reason that the only daughter of the late Queen Elizabeth is named the hardest-working royal year after year based on the well-known Court Circular. With the counter at 457 royal engagements in 2023, she even beat her brother King Charles.

Although she is desperately needed to fulfill all the royal obligations that the British royal family has, for now she must and will first focus on her recovery. Get well soon, Anne!
