For this reason, Letizia has exchanged her heels for sneakers

The queen has suffered a broken bone.

We know Letizia for her elegant style, but for now we will see the queen in a sportier look. On her most recent work visits, she traded in her usual high heels for a pair of sneakers, and there’s a clear medical reason for that.

Seat

Last month, Felipe and Letizia traveled to the Netherlands for an official state visit to our royal couple. Traditionally, a state banquet was also organised, and in addition to the glamor factor, royalty watchers noticed something else that evening. When receiving the guests, a seat had been arranged for Letizia, while the other royals stood upright as usual.

Foot pain

After some research, it quickly became apparent that Leti had a good reason not to strut around in sky-high stilettos. According to the Spanish daily El Mundo, the queen has chronic metatarsalgia in both feet and a Morton neuroma in her right foot. Don’t worry, we had to do some Googling too. But the bottom line is that she suffers from a sharp pain in the balls of her feet, combined with a pinched nerve. Complaints that probably arose as a result of, you guessed it: walking too much in heels. It is most likely the reason that, in addition to high pumps, the queen also has many chunky loafers, lovely ballerinas and summer sandals in her closet.

Broken toe

This week, Letizia has already made two working visits, and at both times the queen was spotted wearing a pair of white sneakers. One and one is two, you would think. But guess what? Leti’s shoe choice this time had a different reason than the metatarsalgia we just talked about. The queen has already revealed the cause: a fracture in the proximal phalanx of the central toe of her right foot. Doesn’t sound very nice either, but judging by Leti’s radiant smile, it doesn’t seem that bad. Although she will have to do without her pumps in the coming weeks. But hey: all the more reason to buy a few new flats, nun?
