We would never have guessed this.
We’ve always wondered what’s hidden inside the royals’ handbags and clutches. On a wild guess, we would think of a roll of peppermint, a pack of tissues or a lipstick for the final touch-ups, but Zara Tindall once revealed that Princess Anne carries something completely different.
Vitamins to go
Princess Anne, the only daughter of the late Queen Elizabeth, is one of the most hardworking royals. Although she is already past retirement age at 73, her royal agenda is still full of appointments. Organizing charity events, cutting ribbons, handing out knighthoods, attending horse races – it is certainly never boring. How does the Princess Royal manage to complete that endless stream of appointments full of energy? That could just be due to a ‘secret ingredient’. “She always carries a kiwi with her,” daughter Zara Tindall reveals about Princess Anne in Robert Hardman’s book Queen Of Our Times. Eh, quoi?
Healthy snack
That’s something different than a make-up mirror or extra pantyhose in your bag. Princess Anne would always have a kiwi with her as a quick snack, one that provides plenty of vitamin C, vitamin K, antioxidants and dietary fiber. So is that how Princess Anne always manages to appear so energetic?

Anne’s eating habits
Princess Anne’s special eating habits often raise eyebrows. For example, Her Royal Frugality would have breakfast with overripe bananas. You know, those almost black ones. They are easier to digest and you also prevent food waste.
In addition, the princess would always treat her guests to a fairly modest dinner: canned meat with boiled potatoes and peas. “After all, you want everyone to be out of your house at a quarter past nine,” Princess Anne previously explained. “For dessert I give my guests a chocolate ice cream that they can eat in the car.” Here’s a Magnum, let’s move on!
