You must see these films that will be released in cinemas this year

Every year there are plenty of films in the cinema. This is also the case this year. Do you need help choosing which movies to watch? We have listed a few that we think you should visit!

This year’s films

Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire

Godzilla and Kong meet again in Godzilla x Kong: The new empire. Where they were arch enemies in Godzilla vs Kong, they are now a team. All peace has returned to the world, now that both beings are in their own place. Until a new empire arises. Kong and the scientists discover a new group of monkeys, led by a monkey similar to Kong. This monkey is strong and his fellow monkeys are also quite tough. The only option to help Kong in this battle is Godzilla. Will this duo work out? And will they defeat the enemy, or is this the end of the world as we know it? See it in cinemas from March 28.

Abigail

Abigail is a young ballerina, daughter of a wealthy man from the underworld. A group of people kidnap her and watch her for twenty-four hours, then receive a $50 million ransom. After all the kidnappers and Abigail are in the house, they quickly realize that this is not just any kidnapping. All doors and windows are locked from the outside and there is no way to escape. This is not the only strange thing about the whole thing. Abigail is not just any girl. She is a vampire and goes after the kidnappers one by one to kill them. How does this end? Abigail will be in cinemas from April 18.

Kingdom of the planet of the apes

Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is the fourth film in the Planet of the Apes series. This film takes place 300 years after the previous film. The world has been taken over by monkeys and humans are a small group. They survive in the wild and the monkeys hunt them. The monkey leader, Proximus Ceasar, is out to wipe out all groups and have all the technology for himself. Noa, a random chimpanzee, disagrees and goes against it. He does this by protecting a girl, Nova, from the monkeys. Curious? Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes will be in theaters on May 8.

If

If, short for Imaginary Friends, is about a girl who one day gains the ability to see imaginary friends. Not just hers, but everyone’s who’s ever had an imaginary friend. Now that the children have grown into adults, the imaginary friends are abandoned and alone. Bea, the girl, discovers that her neighbor, The Man Upstairs, also sees the If’s. Together they go on an adventure to reunite the ifs with the children they belong to. Does this sound good yet? Then watch If in the cinema on May 16.

A Quiet Place: Day One

A Quiet Place: Day One is based on the A Quiet Place series and takes place in the same universe. It goes back to the first day of the apocalypse, where strange creatures took over the earth and made the world silent. These creatures do not see with their eyes, but with their hearing. The main character, Sam, takes you through the development and acceptance of the new world. Fan of the A Quiet Place series and would you like to see it too? The film can be seen in cinemas from June 27.

Twisters

This film is based on the 1996 film Twister, but stands alone. A group of researchers and tornado fanatics approach tornadoes and try to get as close to the center as possible. Join us on an adventure and get to know each character. Twisters can be seen in cinemas on July 18.

Joker: Folie à Deux

Yes, the Joker is also getting a sequel. In the previous film he ended up in a psychiatric clinic. In Joker: Folie à Deux we start here. The premise of the film is not yet known, but we do know that Harley Quinn will play a major role in this film. We also know that the film is a musical. Already curious? We expect to see Joker: Folie à Deux in cinemas on October 3.

Gladiator 2

The highly praised Gladiator from 2000 is also ready for a new part. In this second part we follow Lucius, nephew of Emperor Commodus. Lucius has been living in the wilderness for about fifteen years. Everyone around him, including his mother, thinks he has died. Little is known about the whole story. We do know that both new and old, well-known names appear in this film. Gladiator 2 will hit the big screen on November 21.

Doesn’t have a trailer yet.

Mufasa the lion king

Unlike other films on this list, Mufasa: The Lion King is a prequel to the Lion King film we know. The story is about Mufasa and Scar as children and how their lives went up to the point we already know. The story begins with Rafiki telling Kiara, Simba and Nala’s daughter, her grandfather’s story. The film hits theaters on December 18, so there’s still plenty of time to learn more about the story.
