This way you don’t have to feel guilty anymore.
Every year it’s the same thing again: we’ve barely finished Christmas dinner, or we’re already starting to make unattainable New Year’s resolutions. Before you start feeling guilty because you secretly know that you may not be able to achieve your goals, we list five resolutions that you can maintain.
1. Treat yourself every now and then
We are often very strict with ourselves and make rigorous decisions. It is extra important to reward yourself every now and then for something that has worked well. Have you had a very busy and especially hectic month at work? Treat yourself to a nice pair of shoes. Have you been eating very healthily for a long time and are you now ready for something tasty? Treat yourself to that box of Ben&Jerry’s you’ve been staring at in the supermarket all month. This way you enjoy it even more and you also look forward to certain things.
2. Go on a ‘holiday’ in your own city
Not quite enough money for a tropical resort or European city trip, but do you want to get out of the house for a weekend? Book a hotel in your own city. First of all, you will be there in no time and at the same time you will notice that you also experience this as a kind of holiday. And, you don’t have all that hassle with time zones, air travel, etc.
3. Don’t spend all your money on clothes
Honestly: you probably still have at least five items in your closet that you have never worn. Yet every time you end up in ZARA or H&M, where you then walk out of the store with about three bags. As a result, at the end of the month you’ll be looking at your bank balance again with great regret. Therefore, at the beginning of the year, put on paper the maximum number of items of clothing you can purchase in 2019. According to Het Laatste Nieuws, most swear by 36, but the choice is of course yours.
4. Save half of what comes in
You may have to give up a number of things, but you will find that saving only brings benefits in the end. If you only put a small amount aside each time, it will take a long time before you put together that nice trip or expensive bag. If you put aside half of your income (as far as possible of course) and use the other half for what you need, you will find that you have saved up that dream vacation or bag that you have wanted for a long time in no time.
5. Drink more tea
Of course, exercising more is a very good resolution, but there are also a number of simple things that will boost your healthy lifestyle. Try to drink as little soft drinks and fruit drinks as possible and teach yourself to have a few cups of tea every day. And mainly green tea. Not only are the antioxidants good for your heart and cholesterol, a cup of tea is also good for relaxing. A healthier lifestyle and less stress. Win-win situation if you ask us.
