The series De Bauers – 20 years later shows how Frans Bauer and his family fare twenty years after their previous reality series. From April 4, we can once again enjoy the adventures of the Bauers on NPO 1 every week, with which they have once again scored a great success. Can we expect a second season?
The Bauers
In De Bauers – 20 years later we follow singer Frans, his wife Mariska, and their sons Christiaan, Jan, Frans Junior and Lucas in their daily lives where humor and conviviality are paramount. But the series also highlights the less pleasant sides of life. Such as the loss of Frans’ father who died eight years ago and the consequences of the cerebral infarction that affected Mariska two years ago.
We also see how father Frans battles with his excess weight. His new lifestyle has ensured that he has now achieved great results. However, to reach a healthy weight, the singer still needs to lose about 30 kilos. So the battle continues tirelessly, which is sometimes quite difficult for Frans. In his own words, there are many temptations that are difficult to resist for a bon vivant like him.
New season
The viewing figures for the new series exceeded everyone’s expectations with around 2 million viewers per episode, even twenty years later. Can we prepare for a new season?
In the talk show De Oranjezomer, Frans says that he still has to discuss a possible second season of the reality show with his family. “We haven’t met about that yet,” said the singer. “The Bauers is about the whole family, everyone has to agree,” he said at the table. According to him, every member of the family has veto power over the series. He explains that his daughters-in-law, for example, must also continue to enjoy it.
Whether there will really be a second season of De Bauers – 20 years later, remains exciting. In any case, we sincerely hope that it will happen!
