Oh no! This means your perfume won’t last as long

Perfume smells wonderful, and we want that scent to last as long as possible. Yet that’s not always the case, and here’s why.

1. Applying perfume incorrectly

The first reason is the most common cause of your scent not lasting all day. This has to do with heat, which ensures that the scent comes out better. In order to continue to smell the scent all day long, you will have to choose places on your body that produce the most body heat. These are, for example, your wrists, the inside of the elbows, the inside of the knees, the ankles and the back of your neck. Perfume also lingers well in your hair, but it is best to choose a specific hair perfume. Regular fragrances contain alcohol, which is very bad for the hair.

2. Improper storage

Every fragrance has an expiration date and over time you will notice the liquid becoming darker and more viscous. You can extend the shelf life by storing the bottle correctly. Always store the bottle in a cool and dark place. Also keep it as far away from heating, air conditioning or direct sunlight as possible: this will ensure that the expiration date arrives earlier.

3. Floral scents

There is one golden fact when it comes to scent: scents that are oriental or based on wood last much longer than a citrus scent, green or floral scents. Fresh scents are of course very nice, so it is recommended that you take a small bottle or sample with you to freshen up during the day.

4. Inadequate hydration

Did you know that there is a direct connection between skin care and how long a scent lasts? Perfume does not go well with skin that is too dry, so the scent will dissipate more quickly. It is important that the skin is well hydrated, and a good body lotion or moisturizer often works wonders. Make sure that the body lotion or moisturizer is odorless, or that the scent matches the scent of the perfume. Extra tip: if you use a shower gel or soap with the same or a similar scent when showering, you have already taken the first steps. This scent then absorbs into the skin. Make a step-by-step plan with shower gel as the first step, body lotion as the second and perfume as the third. This way you are guaranteed to smell good all day long.
