Streaming services such as Netflix are full of series. Every genre has at least one series on a streaming service. That makes it difficult to find a series that really interests you. We have looked up some series for you, if you are done searching and are in the mood for crime, blood and horror.

Ares
Anyone who thinks that the Netherlands only makes rom-com films and series is wrong. In 2020, Netflix released Ares. A drama series with horror and mystery. Rosa has just started studying in Amsterdam. She is interested in an exclusive student association because a friend, Jacob, is also involved in the association. Jacob is against Rosa being a member, but Rosa perseveres and joins.
Rosa is the outsider in the association. She is the only one who does not come from a wealthy family and is only half Dutch. That stands out among all the rich white people. The members treat Rosa differently than the rest, for a reason. The student association, called Ares, is not a normal society. They have been around for hundreds of years and have a long history of slavery. There is also more of a cult atmosphere than the cozy atmosphere that you imagine.

SweetHome
South Korea also likes a bloodbath. There are several series that do this very well, such as Kingdom and A Killer Paradox, but we choose to tell you more about Sweet Home. The first season was released in 2020, the second season in 2023 and the third season is scheduled for the summer of 2024.
Cha Hyun-su has dropped out of high school, suffers from depression and is suicidal. He moves into an apartment complex. He never leaves his apartment and always orders his food. Stranger Things
This is the most famous gory series on Netflix. After four spectacular seasons already on the streaming service, we expect season 5 next year. For people who don’t know what Stranger Things is or what it is about, we will explain.
The story takes place in an American town called Hawkins, in the 1980s. At first glance this seems like a very normal place, but nothing is as it seems. A boy goes missing, scientists test on children and another world? For now, the residents of Hawkins know little about this.
A number of boys are playing a game of Dungeons and Dragons (D&D) in the basement of Mike, one of the main characters. After the weekly game, Will, another main character, cycles home, but never gets there. Everyone starts looking, but will it work?

Zombies always do well in a series full of blood. This is also the case with Black Summer. To add insult to injury, this is also an apocalypse. Zombies love the brain and will do anything to get it. If that isn’t a massacre, we don’t know what is.
It’s been six weeks since the zombie apocalypse started. Everyone is trying to get to the stadium, where they promise safety. Do you want a mix of comedy and horror? Then sit down for Santa Clarita Diet. This series is about a normal family, both parents are real estate agents and live in an expensive neighborhood. This is quite a shock for the family. During a nasty encounter with Gary, she eats him. The strange thing is, she likes it too! How are Sheila and her family coping with this new lifestyle?
Alice in borderland
Japan knows how to make a good series. You can certainly see that in Alice in Borderland. This Japanese science fiction thriller drama series has been popular since its release and will continue to be so. The series begins in Tokyo, where Arisu along with his friends Karube and Chōta. After an altercation, they hide in a toilet. When they go back outside, they see that the city is quiet and empty. A billboard contains directions to the game arena. The trio soon discovers that they have ended up in a game. It’s not a game like you see on TV, but just like Squid Game, this is a game of life or death. What happened? Slasher
Our final recommendation is Slasher. This 5-part series has a different murderer as the main character each season. Each killer has a different reason for killing and you discover this while watching a season. Each season also has a subtitle. For example, the first season has The Executioner as a subtitle and season five has Ripper. Seasons one, two and three can be found on Netflix. For the other two seasons you are welcome on Prime Video.
The storyline of season one is as follows. Sarah moves back to her birthplace in Waterbury, Canada, with her husband. Her parents were murdered there before Sarah was born. The police caught the killer with Sarah in his hands. Now that Sarah is back, more and more similar murders are happening in the town. Is this a coincidence or is there more to it?
