How amazing would a tennis tournament between these Royal families be?
Last week, the centuries-old tennis tournament Wimbledon started again. The British royals traditionally make an appearance at a few matches every year. They themselves are also quite competitive with the sport. We have listed for you which royal houses also like to hit a ball on the tennis court.

The Waleses are a sporty family, and both Prince William and Princess Kate are known for their competitive natures. William has been reluctant to admit that Princess Kate is the better of him on the tennis court. We’re guessing that football is more the prince’s thing.
Of course, our Princess of Wales could not be left out of this list. Kate is a fanatic tennis player. Her love for the sport has made her the patroness of the organization behind Wimbledon since 2016, and therefore traditionally hands out the trophies to the winners. Did you know that Kate even played a game of tennis against eight-time Wimbledon winner Roger Federer? Cool!

Birgitte, the Duchess of Gloucester, is, like William and Kate, a big tennis fan and can call herself honorary president of the Lawn Tennis Association.

King Frederik and Queen Maria of Denmark are also great fans of the sport. Frederik also enjoys running and football. They share his love of tennis with their children, Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine. In 2014, Frederik participated in a social game of tennis during the Australian Open Grand Slam!

The Dutch royal family also enjoys a game of tennis. Princess Beatrix was already fond of tennis from a young age. “She got up every morning at seven o’clock so she could play,” says historian and expert on the royal family Dorine Hermans in EenVandaag. It is therefore not surprising that her sons, Willem-Alexander, Friso and Constantijn, also grew up with tennis. We have found a number of photos from the old box of the Oranjes on the tennis court.
