Shine during the state banquet Luxembourg – Belgium

The most beautiful thing about a state visit for fans and viewers is of course the glitz and glamor during the state banquet, which always ends the first day of the state visit.

After a first day with the official reception, the welcome ceremony and a visit to the Brussels City Hall (click here for the link to today’s blog), there is nothing better than ending with a gala dinner. The state banquet, as it is so nicely called during a state visit, is held in the Castle of Laeken.

Fashion Mathilde

Queen Mathilde will be dressed tonight in a very soft blue/gray dress with long sleeves. The dress, designed by Armani Privé, is set with small glittering beads.

In terms of jewelry, she wears the Diadem of the Nine Provinces and her diamond necklace.

Fashion Maria Teresa

Grand Duchess Maria Teresa wears a dark gown with a pink stole that reaches the floor.

In terms of jewelry, she wears – very appropriately – the Belgian scroll tiara. Her necklace is the aquamarine necklace from the aquamarine parure.

About the Belgian scroll tiara: how on earth did it end up in Luxembourg? Grand Duke Henri’s mother (Grand Duchess Joséphine-Charlotte) was the sister of the late King Baudouin and King Albert. She married Grand Duke Jean. The tiara was made by jeweler Coosemans on behalf of the Sociëté Générale, as a wedding gift for Grand Duchess Joséphine-Charlotte. She wore the tiara in the official wedding photos (during the wedding ceremony she wore the Congo necklace as a tiara. Given the family ties between the two monarchies, it is a good move that Maria Teresa wears this tiara.

For a moment I thought Maria Teresa was wearing this dress. I vaguely remembered this outfit. But no, it’s different. In any case, the dress has a different neckline and this is more of a longer cardigan than a stole. But, in terms of color, it’s not surprising that I thought I recognized this outfit for a moment ;).
